ICT Audit, Report and Recommend...

For many organisations such as schools and colleges, clubs and societies, there is a clear need to make use of IT to aid efficiency, but there is no one properly qualified to assess the performance and benefits of the IT systems.

As an independent contractor, with no vested interest in any one supplier or provider, I can provide an objective analysis of the state of play of your organisations IT systems.  This would include an assessment of fitness for purpose, a review of systems effectiveness and a report of observed issues and limitations.

Following a standard approach, I would begin by producing a schedule of equipment and software in use. This is followed by an analysis of the intended system outputs, the 'deliverables', which is combined with a review of the wish-list items. This permits a simple gap analysis between what the system is providing, what it should provide and what it could provide in an ideal world.

Using the experience gained in over 20 years of systems work, and working with your internal representatives, I can then prepare a more detailed report with recommendations and suggestions.

Typically this report will highlight areas of concern in respect of security, reliability, resilience and performance, and propose remedial action which should be taken in each of these areas as necessary.  It will customarily also include suggestions for enhancing system performance and functionality, as this area is one which many clients have found to be invaluable in planning future developments.

I am also able to present a summary of the findings of the audit to a management body, should that be required, so that the Governors, Board Members or Management team can be satisfied that a comprehensive and professional review has been carried out, and that the proposed ICT strategy going forward is soundly based.
